Numen/For Use is a design collective creating diverse and large-scale works that often completely take over their settings.

They have a particular fondness for experimenting with unusual and unexpected materials, stretching their properties through amazingly ambitious installations. The Tape series – most recently on display in Tokyo – demonstrates this perfectly, with huge interactive sculptures, which seemingly defy gravity and structural possibility.

The sheer scale and volume of materials used is astounding and the web-like constructions look ethereal, with their translucent appearance only letting in fragments of light, like a gigantic chrysalis.

But Numen’s pieces aren’t just to be looked at. They allow the audience to touch, climb through and scramble over the installations and explore every inch of the space.
